The Mediterranean Chickpea is one of the top 10 places to eat in Florida, according to Yelp

Date:

The state of Florida is filled with incredible restaurants. The emergence of the state’s MIICHELIN guide furthers our culinary love for this beautiful place. Tampa spots received Bib Gourmand Awards, in addition to inclusion in the guide itself. Yelp just released its list of 100 restaurants to visit in Florida this summer, and more than 20 of the restaurants are in the Tampa Bay region. One of the top restaurants in all of Florida is The Mediterranean Chickpea. It also topped out Yelp’s list of the top 100 vegan restaurants.

“Located in a modest South Tampa strip mall, it offers top-notch versions of Mediterranean classics, including an array of homemade hummus options from cilantro jalapeño to roasted red pepper,” write the Yelp editors. “Fans rave about the smoky baba ghanoush and perfectly textured eggplant hummus, which one reviewer describes as ‘absolutely the best hummus I have ever had.’”

Vegan specialties and Mediterranean faves. Popular dishes include the falafel wrap and spinach pie. Top items include the babaganoush, the falafel bowl, cilantro jalapeño hummus, and the rice and lentils remain the top signature items at the restaurant.

The Mediterranean chickpea wasn’t the only Tampa spot to make the cut. Here are the other local restaurants that were celebrated on the list:

  • Pure Kitchen
  • Chicago Paulies
  • Healthy N Fresh
  • Marlene’s
  • Flan Factory
  • Wrights Gourmet
  • Kombo Kitchen

Our friends over at I Love the ‘Burg also put together an article covering the St. Petersburg restaurants included in the top 100 list.
