National sensation Shrek Rave brings the Ogre from the Swamp to Tampa this December

Ogres are like onions, they…go to raves. That’s the quote, right? From classic fairytale, to Dreamworks sensation, to Universal immersive ride, to rave theme, the journey of Shrek through pop culture has been a wild one. Side note: there’s also a Shrek Burlesque Show that has taken the globe by storm. Alexa, play “All Star” by Smashmouth. On December 2, everyone can celebrate that “cool is dead” and dance because “who cares?” during the Shrek Rave at The Orpheum in Tampa.

Shrek Rave begins at 9pm on December 2. This is an 18+ show, and tickets range from $15-$25. Those interested can reserve their tickets online. The very first Shrek Rave took place in Los Angeles back in March of 2022.

The wild Shrek Rave is coming to Tampa and Orlando this year

The rave’s original creator, Jordan Craig, a Los Angeles-based artist and screenwriter, first got the idea fro the party nearly 2 years ago. He told the New York Times that “Shrek, like SpongeBob SquarePants, continued to age well online and that this was reason enough to throw the party.”

Shrek continues to occupy a weird place online. Meme lords and content creators continue to make gifs, and images that range from silly to sultry. Attendees can expect to hear a healthy amount of Smashmouth, in addition to pop, hip hop, and EDM

Those who want keep up with Shrek Rave as it jumps from city to city can follow it on Instagram. This’ll be fun. We’ll stay up late, swapping manly stories, and in the morning… I’m making waffles (or maybe just grabbing brunch at Oxford Exchange).
