Cafe Hey is one of the best restaurants in Tampa. PERIOD. This local gem is outfitted with gorgeous murals, and while it is quaint in size, it is bursting with some of the most bomb recipes in the region. It opened back in 2007, well before the Riverwalk, Armature Works, and Sprouts emerged in the neighborhood. Located at 1540 N Franklin Street, Cafe Hey is easy to miss if you’re just hopping off the highway, but its Vegan Brunch is well worth a try.
The spot is known for its coffee, tea, and sandwiches. Breakfast is served 7 days a week on site. The new ube matcha tea is a summer dream come true — it’s almost too pretty to drink. Gooey vegan chocolate chunk cookies, vegan cinnamon rolls, cranberry orange scones, ube coconut donuts and more tasty special have appeared behind the glass case of the vegan bakery.

It’s the vegan brunch that has our attention right now. The most recent brunch menu included an enchanting blackberry spritz, in addition to classic bottomless mimosas. Cafe Hey’s vegan crunchwrap supreme is superb. The Cafe Hey version is made with avocado, vegan chorizo, just egg, vegan cheddar, salsa and breakfast potatoes.
Loaded breakfast potato hash, and French toast with tasty caramelized peaches have also appeared on the menu. You’ll have to follow Cafe Hey on Instagram to keep up with the latest brunch offerings. Their Sunday brunch is available until they are sold out of food, which can happen quite fast.
